January 2009

by Ralph Desmond
Acting President ADAPT

We dodged the weather bullet in the December ADAPT Meeting.  After two years of horrendous weather for our December meeting – we missed “the Ice Storm” by 6 hours, although we did miss our Maine & NH contingent! (Hi, Jeanne, Rick, Penny and Eric!)

Peter Ward of Themis, Inc. gave us a complete rundown of “What was in his pocket” as he gave us a great survey of Gadgets and Gizmos that he finds productive. Well done Peter! Peter is also our treasurer and will be happy to take your dues money!

Frank Quirk, our Program Director, gave us a lighter vein holiday treat with IT Trivia.  The festive mood carried over to a Yankee Swap. Frank has stepped down from his position. Thank you for all your hard work, Frank, and for the prizes of cards!   Willia Cooper of Staples will be taking on some of the program planning for 2009.

Our main speaker in December was Deborah Boisvert, Director, BATEC Center for IT, University of Massachusetts Boston. She gave a very informative talk on the requirements of mew IT curriculum. She emphasized the need to increase and integrate Business Skills in to our   knowledge base.

The BIG One Day Event to come is our Annual Meeting in May, Second Thursday, May 14th at the Warren Conference Center, Ashland MA. I am still looking for volunteers to assist in speaker selection. If you have suggestions PLEASE let me know!

See you in Burlington!
