At what point did we impress upon our weather forecasters the importance of forecasting with such accuracy? Why is it important to have weather updates every 10 minutes? Is it an accomplishment if my town gets more snowfall than yours?

I'm quite fine with a brief delivery statement - when the storm will start, and when the storm will finish. I'd propose a plan of action - anything over 6 inches needs to be shoveled, anything below is now part of the landscaping.

Sure it is good advice to stock-up on water and canned goods - but maybe this is the best time to rely on the resources we have on-hand…and be creative with the things we've acquired along the way.

Training is quite similar.

We tend to plan, over plan, and rethink our plan. All along we strive to be dynamic, engaging, and enlightening. We try to fine-tune the curriculum with such accuracy, that many times we miss out on the resources in front of us - our students. Clearly training needs to have a beginning, and measurable steps along the way. It should have milestones, and accomplishments, though we should not be rewarded because it has come to an end. The reward for a student comes through a job well done. The reward is greater when you can share your knowledge with others.

We value equipment capital and spend countless dollars on the support and maintenance of a company's infrastructure. We value human capital with health plans and retirement plans to safeguard our staff investments. But it's the intellectual capital that helps us succeed in an organization, throughout our careers, as individuals. By maintaining our expertise through an investment in training, and involvement in our association, we can forecast a bright future for not only ourselves, but our ADAPT organization as well.

All we need for you to do is share.

Tim
