Welcome to another ADAPT year.September 2004 by Sandy King Dear Friends - Old and New: Welcome to another ADAPT year. Where did the summer go? Our Program Committee has selected "Building for the Future" as this year's theme. "Building" anything requires a proper and firm foundation. ADAPT has a foundation built on 27 previous successful years. It can be mathematically proven that a three-legged stool is even more stable than a four-legged stool. The three-legged stool, if properly used and sufficiently strong, will bear considerable weight. It will prove comfortable enough to sit upon and even to stand upon. A three-legged stool has strength, is sturdy, stable, steadfast, and stalwart. The secret of its strength lies in the weight being equally set upon each leg as a whole. If one leg is taken away . the whole stool is useless and actually becomes dangerous. ADAPT is like a three-legged stool. It has strong leadership, financial stability, and stalwart members. 1. The ADAPT Board consists of a number of committed members. It is balanced with a few who have previous experience complemented by others who bring a fresh perspective poised to generate new and different ideas. We do need a Newsletter Editor. If you have the skills and time or know someone who does, please let us know. 2. ADAPT is financially stable as a result of frugal planning and implementation, generous member companies who volunteer their sites for our meetings, and the latest infusion of profit from the 2004 Information Technology Training Conference. We are positioned to support our Program Committee, provide interesting and entertaining networking activities, and take on new challenges as they occur. 3. Steadfast and stalwart members are necessary to ensure that our three-legged stool is stable and enduring. We welcome former members and new members alike and are proud to be an organization that considers all of our members as true partners. Our goals this year include involving the membership in more of the decision-making and increasing the membership by 20%. We need your help to be successful. When the question is asked, "Which of the three legs is the most important?", t he answer is clear. It is "All of them." Without one, the other two cannot provide the necessary support. You are invited to become truly involved in "Building for the Future." You will find the rewards will far outweigh the effort. I hope to see you on September 9th and on the second Thursday of every month until May 2005. Best regards, Sandy |
