ADAPT President’s Message – September 2007
“30 years of service to the Information Training Community 1977 -2007”
New Year 31
It is a new year, a new decade, and a new beginning for ADAPT. Having successfully navigated 30 years in the dynamic and volatile world of IT Training, ADAPT, this year will strive to “ADAPT” to changing times and challenges. As an organization we even pre-date the term “IT”. We want to ensure that we continue to meet the expectations and needs of our members as we enter our third decade.

Well Done, ITTC!
In June, Jay Consiglio and Jean Raymond and the ITTC Board scored a HUGH success with ITTC ‘s Pearls of Wisdom convention at the Hyatt on Newport Harbor. My personal thanks to ITTC Board and all the volunteers who made this happen. Jean will be giving us the final wrap up of the convention at our Sept meeting and kick off the ITTC’s 31st year! I don’t want to steal her thunder but as of Jul 17th, we had made $85 on the convention against a budget of over $90,000. When the dust finally settles, I believe we will have basically broken even, including the seed money for this year. If you would like to volunteer in this year’s effort, please, contact Jean:

Program Committee
Sept - Genzyme - Thursday Sept 13th
One of the pluses of last year that I want to continue is to bring high quality topics to our monthly meetings. Suzanne Hart, Sandy King and I have been hard at it, working on the fall meeting schedule. (See elsewhere in this notice for full details). In September, we will return to Genzyme in Framingham for a presentation on Distance Learning presented from a distance! Our speaker, remotely, will be Bob Lee of WebEx. This will be an afternoon meeting, with light lunch provided. Please register at the ADAPT web site, www.adapttrain.org
Oct – Assumption College - Tuesday Oct 9th NOTE DATE - TUESDAY
Please, notice this meeting will be on a Tuesday! Mark your calendars! This meeting will deal with creating podcasts. Certainly this will be a popular and timely subject. We thank, Carmella Murphy for hosting.
Nov – Eliassen - Thursday Nov 8th
Barry Richman will be hosting us for a presentation by Frank Quirk – Barry also put us on the Rhode Island Tech Collaborative. We hope to be able to work with them on some joint ventures.
Dec - White Cliffs - Thursday Dec 13th
We will be returning to ADAPT favorite holiday location, the White Cliffs in Northborough, for one of our most popular meetings,
Membership Committee
One of weakest points last year was the lack of a Membership Director. This year, Sandy King, Barry Richman, Linda Saraco, and Davis Cox have already made progress. We hope to be seeing several new members in September and we already have several new people working on ADAPT committees. Not only do we want new members, but we want them to be active. The committee will be working on retention of veteran members and locating new ones. We would like to increase our RI membership – perhaps by working with the Rhode Island Tech Collaborative. If you have ideas, prospects –let us know.
Dues
It is $$$ dues time $$$ again. Please see the ADAPT web page for details – ADAPT will be sending an e-blast reminder soon with the up-to-date particulars. As our treasurer this year, we welcome back Peter Ward of Themis Education. Thanks, Buddy!
ADAPT Board Meeting 10:30 Genzyme Thurs Sep 13th
There will be an ADAPT Board meeting the day of the ADAPT regular Sept meeting, Thurs 13th at 10:30 at Genzyme. I believe, there will be an ITTC Board meeting following the ADAPT afternoon meeting. Both Board meetings are open to all ADAPT members and we encourage your participation.
