ADAPT President’s Message – December 2007
"Over 30 years of service to the Information Training Community"

We have some exciting things coming up in ADAPT. December brings our Annual Holiday Party at the White Cliffs in Northboro.  This is an afternoon meeting with a great luncheon ($20 – reservations please).  This is a great time to re-connect with colleagues.  Call an old ADAPT friend and plan to meet on the 13th Dec or bring a NEW to ADAPT person for only $10.  The topic will be “Icebreakers and Other Games”. If you have a favorite one to share or present, please contact me or Suzanne Hart as soon as possible.

In January, we will be at New Horizons in Waltham (afternoon meeting) with a presentation by Shelley Hall – see elsewhere for details. ITTC Board meeting in January will immediately follow.

Sandy King Update

Sandy is home recovering from surgery and doing ok. We expect to she her back on her feet and joining us at the December meeting.

Google Ads
Pat O’Malley (of the New England Pats!) is spearheading an effort to get ADAPT connected with the Google ads that show on the right hand side when you do a search. We are working to define our geographic are of interest and our “trigger” phrases. If you have any experience with these or any other input, contact Pat.

Get Connected!
Newport

Plans continue for ADAPT’s biggest production ITTC XXXI – Get Connected. We are in final negotiations with the Hyatt in Newport. So mark your calendars! If you would like to volunteer in this vital ADAPT production, please contact  me or Jean Raymond,  our ever hardworking  Chairperson!

What You Missed in November
Nov – Eliassen   Wakefield MA - Thursday    Nov 8th AM
Frank Quirk – “A Key is Missing”

Barry Richman hosted ADAPT with an excellent presentation by Frank Quirk. An early morning gas leak did not deter us. (It panicked me for a minute though!). Frank presented some of his video scenarios “A Key is Missing” a leadership, team development, communication skills video.  Frank used the video to present four basic problem-solving styles and demonstrated their advantages and their inherent weaknesses.  His presentation was well received by a small but extremely receptive audience. Larry Banks suggested that the four problem-solving styles could be expanded to apply to industries and certain job functions. In all, it was a very worthwhile meeting and the participants gain some interesting perspectives.

ADAPT thanks Barry Richman and Eliasson for being such excellent hosts.
